Friction are John Read and Volker Janssen.

 

Originally they joined forces to record a chill out/ambient track for the renowned DJ Pippi from the world famous club, ‘Pacha’, in Ibiza, Spain. 

 

Friction subsequently went on to record and release many tracks on the Undiscovered Ibiza label. They have also contributed to Ibiza’s other famous exports ‘Café Del Mar’ and ‘Café Del Sol’.  

 

In 2008 they released their first album “Return To Calm” on their own “Fragile Hold Records” label. In 2010 they followed this with “Medication”.

 

John and Volker started as session musicians in London, England playing bass guitar and keyboards respectively – they have recorded and toured with many well known artists including:  David Bowie, Enrique Iglesias, Lionel Richie, Paul Young, Dexys Midnight Runners, Lighthouse Family and numerous others.
